About the Role

As an integral part of our strategic growth and expansion initiatives, we are actively seeking a dynamic Management Accountant to spearhead the accounting function for our group companies, including webuyanyhouse.co.uk and associated entities.

This compelling opportunity is tailor-made for an individual who thrives in an energetic and fast-paced environment. Supported by an apprentice finance assistant, you will play a key role in providing guidance and coaching to foster a collaborative and high-performing team.

In this impactful role, reporting directly to the Leadership Team, you will be instrumental in steering the business towards achieving its strategic objectives. Your responsibilities will encompass the meticulous preparation and submission of annual statutory accounts for our UK group companies and UAE business. Moreover, you will assume a central role in overseeing all facets of the finance function.

A key aspect of your role will involve producing insightful board-level management information, delivering meaningful data insights that can be effectively presented to management. Your contributions will be essential in driving informed decision-making and ensuring alignment with our overarching business strategy.

What you will be doing in this role

  • Mastering the intricacies of the role within the initial three months, immersing oneself in the day-to-day responsibilities of the Finance Apprentice, acquiring a comprehensive understanding from the ground up.
  • Conducting a thorough review of individual team performances, implementing targeted training and coaching interventions to enhance overall productivity.
  • Optimise and streamline financial processes and policies for maximum efficiency.
  • Craft monthly management information packs, accompanied by insightful commentary and analysis of results versus budget/forecast.
  • Taking charge of group reporting, from the meticulous preparation of year-end financial statements to the successful filing process.
  • Oversee processing of salaries, payroll reports, & supervise monthly commission calculations.
  • Ensuring the timely submission of quarterly VAT returns
  • Maintaining and completing accurate Companies House records.
  • Skillfully managing cashflow to optimise financial liquidity.
  • Diligently enter data ensuring accuracy in SAGE Line 50/Xero.
  • Leading the preparation and execution of payments/BACS runs with precision.
  • Managing intercompany transactions seamlessly.
  • Conducting thorough reconciliation of bank statements to guarantee financial accuracy.
  • Organising and maintaining an efficient filing system for easy retrieval of financial documents.
  • Managing the processing of HMRC FPS/regulations and ensuring compliance.
  • Overseeing pension regulations with precision.
  • Conducting comprehensive expense reconciliations to maintain accurate financial records.
  • Adapting to other duties as and when required, demonstrating flexibility and agility.

To be successful in this role you will need

  • Essential background in accounts, showcasing a robust foundation in financial management.
  • Preferred proficiency in Sage Line 50, Xero, and Sage Payroll, highlighting a comprehensive understanding of diverse financial platforms.
  • Advantageous experience with Power BI or similar reporting systems, underlining a commitment to leveraging cutting-edge tools for insightful financial analysis.
  • Proven track record in meticulous maintenance of Companies House records, demonstrating attention to detail and compliance.
  • Outstanding mentoring, coaching, and people management skills, contributing to a positive and high-performing team culture.

Working Pattern: Mon-Fri 7:45 – 4:30 – Hybrid Role

  • Working Hours: 38.75 hours per working week.
  • The role will be hybrid, with a minimum of 3 days in our head quarters based in Didsbury, Manchester. Our office has excellent transport links and free parking, and is extremely easy to reach. The closest train station to current office is East Didsbury (10-minute walk), and East Didsbury tram stop is right around the corner.
